Attendance

If a young person cannot attend a section meeting, it is helpful to inform the section leader of their absence so they can take account of this when planning that particular week.

Investiture

Once a young person has attended for around a month and has settled into the group, they will be asked whether they want to become a member of 25th Beechgrove Scout Group. The section leader will arrange a date for them to be invested and email the parent or guardian the details.

They will take part in an investiture ceremony and be asked to say the promise of their choice, they will be presented with the group scarf, badges and certificate. This is a special moment for the young person as they become a member of the Beaver Colony, Cub Pack or Scout Troop. Parents and guardians are more than welcome to come and watch the ceremony!

Uniform

Wearing a uniform is comfy and practical. It means no one feels uncomfortable or left out and helps everyone feel part of the group. Uniform can be purchased either from the Scout Store or locally from The Guide Shop situated on 45 Victoria Street, Aberdeen.

The groups scarf or ‘necker’ can be purchased from your section leader for £5.

Costs

Our aim is to keep Scouting as affordable as possible, however as with all groups we have overheads we need to cover. We are required to pay a proportion of our fees to UK Scout Headquarters who deliver a wide range of services and support to volunteers and young people. We use the other money to keep our Scout Hut maintained and for resources to make our section programmes possible.

Our subscription costs are £120 annually, which is spilt into termly instalments. There are also additional costs for camps and day trips throughout the year, depending on whether your young person wishes to attend.
